Last week I wrote about taking small steps, which I now learned is the cure for both perfectionism and procrastination. The cliché ‘less is more’ taught me a hard lesson last week in a performance where I wanted to do everything at once. It ended up pretty messy, a bit long, and I forgot some of my material. I recognize the loops of “this is not enough, I’ll have to add this and this and this and this for it to be good”.
Reality is that the simplicity of a simple solution or a direct answer can be just as good or better than trying to do too much.
Following my wishes
I’ve worked hard to listen to what my body really wants in different situations and it’s led to some nice situations last week, most notably talking to a stranger in the train. I wasn’t sure if I was going to start a conversation with them -hesitating for a bit - until I just thought what the heck I have nothing to lose, and it turned out to be a lovely conversation, and an incredible boost to my energy! The rest of the day I felt renewed and just really happy.
And that’s the opposite of what anxiety is about, right?
Anxiety equals not following your wishes.
Something is blocking you from being you.
Fear.
That stupid fear that saved us from all those bears and wolves back in the day.
That now removes us from opportunities, our happiness and raise our stress levels like erupting volcanoes.
Vex King's "What NOT to do with your anxiety" was a great read with some sweet quotes and I like the approach of switching up the perspective to get more aware of the bad things to avoid.
If you want more good things to approach, Every self-help book ever, boiled down to 11 simple rules was a nice read and funnily enough the first advice is “Take one small step”.
PLAYFULNESS RULES THE WORLD!!
You might have seen this but it’s worth another watch. I wish for everyone on this planet to be a tiny bit more like this guy.
Thanks for reading Insightful Drops 🧡 As always feel free to share it with someone who you think might benefit from it
