The past week has been packed with activities, coming home from Flying Seagulls tour to performing for an Eid celebration and then hosting the Norwegian Juggling Convention. It was so nice to perform in Open stage with David, Børre and Anežka, participate in Numbers juggling competition (2nd place in ball competition), freestyle battle (I couldn’t defend my title from last year and got 2nd place unfortunately), fight night (3rd place) and perform my new act with the orbs in the gala show. I’m very happy about how it went and so thankful to everyone coming to join the fun and also helping with volunteering.
Where are we compatible?
Figuring out the dynamics in a friendship or relationship can be difficult, but this last week I’ve been searching for the balance. It’s been a nice process to identify what I search for in a relationship and being brutally honest with myself to not compromise on my needs. With relationship compatibility all the factors plays in.
Example: I find the perfect person that wants all the same things as me in life, but they live on the other side of the planet. This means there’s a geographic incompatibility or maybe it’s a challenge that could be overcome. Or maybe they live in my street but they are looking for a fun hookup for a night whereas I am looking for a stable relationship to build something for the future, which leads to all kinds of stress and misunderstandings if not communicated properly. Investing in a relationship that does not align with my values does not make sense, at least not in the long term. But maybe it makes sense then to stay friends and the the relationship can still be loving and valuable.
If you want to learn more on this topic I recommend this video (and others) from Teal swan: Incompatibility (A Harsh Reality in Relationships)
It’s also been nice to be aware of the fact that I cannot get all my needs fulfilled by one single person. Some people satisfy my social needs while pushing the limits of juggling, whereas others are nice to hangout with while watching a movie and with some I can go climbing, hiking or swimming. It’s unrealistic to imagine that one person will fill all those needs. I guess that person would be a clone of myself, but what fun is that when we can’t show eachother new ways of living and new perspectives?
My homeboy Børre made a beautiful video! <3
