I started doing planks in the morning thanks to the Wim Hof Method app and I really recommend it! Seeing the progress, pushing for a 5 minute plank is a nice journey. I have done 3 minutes so far. For those that don’t know Wim Hof, look him up. There’s also a cold shower program that I’m following.
People tell me “oh cold water is not for me”, but passing on these benefits that you can so easily get while showering is really a missed opportunity. And everyone can do it, it’s just a matter of getting used to it. It’s heart training, or cardio training if you will, training your cardiovascular system so you don’t get cardiovascular disease. And so many other benefits like reduced stress and a feeling of being awake.
We think that we’re doing something bad to the body because it’s uncomfortable. It’s really the opposite. Let’s compare it with smoking a cigarette, we all know it’s bad for the health and that we reduce years off of our life-expectency by smoking but we still do it. Why?
Because it feels good right there in the moment.
Smoking is a short term gain for long term pain. I don’t want to live my life like that.
I want short term pain by exercising, submerging in cold water, doing something scary like talking to a stranger, stepping up on a stage, learning something new, pushing my comfort zone so that I get those long term gains.
I started climbing!
A new challenge lately has been rock climbing and I really love it! Reminds me a lot about juggling. There’s always a harder wall(trick) to keep challenging me. And I love being outside in nature, it’s such a different feel than being in a climbing gym, and you need a bit of equipment + 2 day belaying course, but it’s totally worth it.
Thanks for reading Insightful Drops 🧡 It would make me really happy if you share it with someone who you think would benefit from reading :)
